Travel in the golden earth

During your stay, cross the Périgord and discover a land of history and treasures. Visit some of the most beautiful villages in France such as La Roque Gageac and Saint Amand de Coly and follow the Dordogne and the Vézère rivers which will lead you through outstanding territories.

The Perigord has an exceptional heritage as its charming towns and villages, its castles such as Les Milandes, its breathtaking gardens such as Eyrignac and Marqueyssac and of course its historical sites such as the chasm of Padirac and the caves of Lascaux.

During your stay you will discover this exceptional heritage, you will also have the opportunity to discover the regional know-how by visiting the workshops of different craftsmen such as cutlery, glass blowers, but also leather goods and ceramics. You will be able to discover the villages and castles that will pass before your eyes by canoe or gabare, typical boats of the region. The gastronomy of the Périgord is as legendary as its castles and is fully part of its heritage. Taste foie gras, ceps of Périgord, duck breast, cabécou, walnut cake and many other delicacies. The supreme product of the region: the black truffle, to be discovered during cooking workshops or research in the forest according to the season. Gastronomy will be an important part of your trip.

Day 1

Arriving in the Périgord region in the early afternoon, you’ll head straight for Sarlat, one of the region’s most charming medieval towns. Sarlat boasts the highest density of listed historic monuments in the world, which can easily be seen as you stroll through the town’s beautiful cobbled streets. Sarlat also offers a wide variety of gastronomic delights to be sampled in the finest restaurants.

You’ll stay in a charming Périgord hotel for the duration of your vacations.

Day 2

Discover the sublime gardens of Marqueyssac in the morning, followed by lunch at the garden restaurant with its incredible view of the Périgord.

Then visit La Roque Gageac, listed as one of France’s most beautiful villages, this pretty village of “gold and light” in the heart of the Périgord, impresses with its rock-cut buildings on the banks of the Dordogne.

Enjoy the gentle pace of life in the village of Beynac-et-Cazenac along the Dordogne.

Day 3

In the morning, take a canoe trip on the Dordogne River from Cénac-et-Saint-Julien to discover the Périgord countryside by water. The trip takes you past La Roque Gageac, and the castles of Beynac and Castelnaud.

After a gourmet lunch, you’ll discover Château des Milandes, Josephine Baker’s grand residence.

Day 4

In the morning, visit the incredible gardens of Eyrignac, then enjoy a truffle lunch to discover this famous Périgord black diamond.

In the afternoon, take a stroll along the banks of the Vézère. Charming villages such as Saint-Léon-sur-Vézère, listed as one of France’s most beautiful villages, await you. You can also discover the troglodyte village of La Madeleine.

Day 5

In the morning, discover the sublime caves of Lascaux and their paintings dating back 20,000 years. For protection reasons, the paintings have been reproduced identically and allow you to plunge into the heart of prehistory: Lascaux IV, a perfect mix of modern technology and history.

2 villages are to be discovered: Saint-Amand-de-Coly one of the most beautiful villages of France, and Terrasson which includes many local know-how such as ceramics, cutlery, glassmaking, etc. 

(Option)

If you wish, a day trip to Rocamadour and the Padirac chasm can be added to discover these two exceptional sites.
