Our luxury stay in Narbonne
In the spring, we discovered the south-west region and more precisely Narbonne in Occitanie during a timeless stay at Chateau l’Hospitalet. Find below all our discoveries and experiences in this lovely place.
A magnificent setting in Occitania
We were overwhelmed by the beauty of the region, like a sweet mix of the Alpilles, Tuscany and the Camargue. Between land and sea, Narbonne is ideally located to offer a relaxing stay in the heart of nature and the Occitan heritage. You can take the time to relax on the beach and enjoy some activities like sand yachting, discover wine domains and taste the most exclusive wines of the region, visit the cities and Occitan heritage, so many possibilities exist in the region for a delightful time.
Discovering local wines
Surrounded by numerous wineries, the region offers wonderful wines to be tasted during a visit to the winery or during a meal for a perfect match between food and wine. We were able to attend an oenological masterclass on the wines of the region and more precisely of the Gérard Bertrand domains, including Clos d’Ora, Clos du Temple, Domaine de l’Aigle, etc. A delight that places Occitane among the greatest French wine regions.
Occitan gastronomy
The regional gastronomy is very rich in flavors and offers multiple specialties such as foie gras, cassoulet, seafood, etc. We had the pleasure to taste these delicious specialities and to make our taste buds travel through the Occitan gastronomy.
Explore the region
Our trip took us to explore Carcassonne, a medieval city with a castle and impressive ramparts, offering a splendid panorama on the region. We tasted an excellent cassoulet, a specialty of the region in a restaurant in the medieval city.
We also discovered Narbonne, the city that was nicknamed “the little sister of Rome”, offers an exceptional place to live with an architectural heritage from the Roman age. Its Cathedral is a must to visit, so impressive with its 41 meters height. Also, Les Halles, one of the best markets in France is a multi-sensory pleasure, and offers you the best of the regional gastronomy, in a jovial atmosphere. We explored the city with a local guide, so we knew all Narbonne’s secrets and didn’t miss out on any of the city’s charm.
We made a stop in Gruissan and its salt marshes changing from blue to pink for an exceptional show, which we enjoyed during a lunch in a beautiful restaurant on the seaside. Seafood, fresh fish and salty desserts, our senses are in exaltation. Don’t hesitate to discover the Salin de Gruissan and observe the exceptional ornithological fauna hiding there.
A wonderful stay in this luxury accommodation
We stayed at Château l’Hospitalet, a luxury hôtel managed by Gérard Bertrand, a real haven of peace between vineyards and sea where we felt like at home. A human and exceptional service listening to us to make us discover what the region has of better. Art, music, and wine blend perfectly like a real music score, to offer a sensory stay to everyone.
For 4 days or for two weeks, the Occitanie region offers many assets to discover and a place to rest in any season.
